Interrupted Residential Burglary in San Geronimo Valley- Two Arrested, One Still Outstanding

On May 20, 2024, at approximately 1205 hours, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call of an interrupted residential burglary in the 40 block of Corona Avenue in Lagunitas.  During the 9-1-1 call, it was discovered the homeowner had one of two suspects detained near the residence, and the other escaped in a nearby vehicle, driven by a third suspect.  The suspect vehicle was described as a silver Ford Taurus.

At approximately 1213 hours, and while Deputies were enroute to the burglary, the Central Marin Police Authority received a call of a reckless driver in a silver Ford sedan at the intersection of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and San Francisco Boulevard in San Anselmo.  This is approximately 8 miles away from the residential burglary.  The Central Marin Police Authority conducted a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle in the area of Terrace Avenue in San Anselmo. During the traffic stop, the front seat passenger fled the vehicle and ran into a nearby neighborhood.  The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was taken into custody by Central Marin Police Authority and Sheriff’s Deputies.

The suspect, who was detained by the homeowner was transported to an area hospital for a precautionary medical checkout based on a complaint of pain.

In collaboration with the San Rafael Police Department, Central Marin Police Department, California State Parks and Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office air support, an area search took place for the outstanding suspect around the San Anselmo/San Rafael boarder.  Unfortunately, the male suspect eluded law enforcement.

The arrested suspects were identified as Shalaya Cherry (29 years old, Marin City) and Clarissa Anderson (25 year old, Transient of San Rafael).  Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail for California Penal Code sections 459, Burglary and 182, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary with bail set at $200,000 each.

This investigation is ongoing.  If you have any additional information to share, please contact the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at 415-473-7265.
