Disaster & Citizens Corps Council


  • Review and evaluate disaster preparedness progress in the public and private sectors;
  • Promote disaster preparedness through communication and education;
  • Harness the power of every resident through education and outreach, training and volunteer service to make their families,homes and communities safer from natural and/or man-made disasters or emergencies; and,
  • Report biannually to the Board of Supervisors.

The Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services serves as staff and support to the Disaster Council and its various committees. The Council meets at least quarterly or upon the call of the Director of Emergency Services or Alternate Director.  Meetings normally occur on the second Thursday in the months of March, June, September, and December, from 3:00 pm to 5:00pm.  To get on the email list for advanced agendas, send a request to Eva by email to

STANDING COMMITTEE:  Public Disaster Education & Preparedness (PDE&P)
The PDE&P Committee of the Disaster Council meets regularly to identify and support the best disaster preparedness practices in Marin County, and to regularly report to the council its findings.  It also makes recommendations to the Council meant to enhance disaster preparedness, public education, collaboration, and community resilience in Marin.
